Face-to-face interpreting

For appointments where being in the room matters: body language, rapport and sensitive conversations.

Our face-to-face interpreters attend legal proceedings, medical appointments, business negotiations and community meetings in the UK, North America, Australia, New Zealand and beyond, from UK courts and tribunals and US immigration courts to Canadian immigration and refugee hearings and New Zealand courts and health services. Being present means the interpreter can follow non-verbal communication as well as speech, which helps in sensitive or complex conversations.

We match you with an interpreter who speaks the language and knows your sector, so that important conversations are understood precisely and trust can grow. We cover assignments from major cities to remote locations.

Video remote interpreting (VRI)

An interpreter joins by secure video link, so everyone can see each other.

Video remote interpreting connects you with a professional interpreter over a secure, high-definition video link with end-to-end encryption. It suits urgent requests, meetings with participants in different places and situations where an on-site interpreter is not available or practical.

VRI is used for telehealth and medical consultations, legal consultations, business meetings and education. It also makes it easier to reach interpreters for less widely spoken languages, and avoids travel.

Telephone interpreting (OPI)

Over-the-phone interpreting for conversations where visual cues are not essential.

Our telephone interpreting service gives you access to professional interpreters in 350+ languages, typically connecting you within seconds. It is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

It suits urgent customer calls, initial medical or legal consultations and any conversation that needs to happen without delay. You are connected to a qualified linguist with relevant subject knowledge, the call is confidential, and there is no travel time.

You can also use the SILA Linguists app for telephone and video sessions.

Conference and remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI)

Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for conferences, summits, seminars and webinars.

Our experienced conference interpreters work in simultaneous (real-time) and consecutive modes for physical, virtual and hybrid events. Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) delivers interpreting to online and hybrid audiences through a remote platform, which reduces the travel and equipment an event needs.

Our dedicated project management team handles the technical side and the linguist coordination. For on-site events we can also provide the interpreting hardware and on-site technical support, so the whole event is covered.

Simultaneous and remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) is available for many languages, including Albanian, Arabic, Azeri, Bulgarian, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Kurdish (Kurmanji and Sorani), Mandarin, Polish, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Tajik, Turkish and Ukrainian.
